Personal Success Goal

Your personal success goal is unique to you. When you begin to think about making changes in your life your will want to make a plan to reach your personal success goal. As you think about it and become more enthusiastic you become clear about what you want.

Now you are ready to take the steps for reaching your goal. Your will want to make it a s.m.a.r.t. goal, specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely.

Specific: What, where, when, why?
If your goal is specific you have a greater chance of achieving in it. For example a general goal may be to lose and weight and get fit. A specific goal could be to eat a healthy diet.

Measurable: Decide on a measurable goal for example, I will loose 10 pounds. If you have a measurable goal you will be able to track your progress. You will know when you have achieved your success goal. To know if your goal is measurable ask how much or how many, how will I know when I get there?

Attainable: When you have decided on a personal success goal, think about ways you can make it happen. What are the things you want to develop in you, new attitudes, skills, abilities to lose weight? Can you do it? Do you see how this can be done now? Are you seeing ways you didn’t see before? Do you believe you can do it? Can you really lose 10 pounds?

Realistic: For a goal to be realistic it must be one you are willing and able to work toward. It must be something you really want and it high enough to be challenging. You want to bring your passion to it.

Timely: Your goal needs to be set in a time frame. With no time frame there is no sense of urgency. If you want to lose 10 pounds when do you want to lose it? For that wedding in June? Then make that the timely part of your goal. When you set your goal in a time frame your unconscious mind begins to go to work toward your goal.

Setting your personal success goal is the first step to achieving it. When you know your goal be sure you write it down. While you are working on your goal read it often to remind yourself of what you want and why. It will keep your focus and on task.

The next step is putting your plan into action. If you don’t know quite where to start, this is a good time to get help.
